Full health check: a baseline you can repeat

A broad blood panel is most valuable as a starting point. One measurement tells you where you are now. Two tell you which way things are moving, and that is the interesting part.

Baseline with 28 markersDrawn at your homeTarget ranges includedRepeatable after 8 to 12 weeks

Most people test everything once, check whether anything is flagged red, and then do nothing with it. That buys you a snapshot. The value sits in the second measurement, because that shows whether what you changed had any effect.

What belongs in a broad check

ComponentWhy it belongs
Blood countRed and white cells, platelets. The basis for anaemia and immune status.
Liver and kidneysALT, AST, GGT, bilirubin, creatinine and eGFR. Organ function.
Blood sugarFasting glucose and HbA1c. With insulin you also get HOMA-IR.
LipidsCholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, non-HDL. ApoB completes the picture.
Inflammationhs-CRP. Low-grade inflammation you would not otherwise notice.
VitaminsVitamin D and B12. Often low without any symptoms.

What is usually missing

Many standard checks contain no ApoB, no Lp(a), no fasting insulin and no ferritin. Those are exactly the values you can act on. ApoB counts the particles carrying cholesterol, which is more precise than LDL alone. Lp(a) is largely genetic and needs measuring only once in your life. Fasting insulin reveals insulin resistance before glucose starts to rise. See longevity and prevention.

What it costs

Lab costs (purchase price, certified lab)€ 75
Appointment at your location (draw, materials, processing)€ 80
Travel, outside a 13 km radius of Amsterdam€ 0.26 per km
Total within Amsterdam€ 155

These are the actual amounts. The lab cost is what the lab charges, passed on without a markup. There is no discounted-from price and no subscription. Enter your address in the price calculator for the exact total including travel.

The example above is the Health Baseline. Outside Amsterdam a per-kilometre charge applies. See the costs page.

When to repeat

After 8 to 12 weeks if you changed something in diet, training or supplements. Sooner than 8 weeks makes little sense for values like HbA1c, which move over roughly three months. If you change nothing, once a year is enough.

Frequently asked questions

How many markers do I need for a good check?

More is not automatically better.

A broad base covering blood count, liver, kidneys, blood sugar, lipids and inflammation covers most of it. Add individual markers based on your situation, not because they appear on a list.

Do I need to fast?

Yes, for glucose, insulin and triglycerides.

At least 8 hours without food. Water is fine. Because the draw happens at your home, you do not have to travel while fasting.

How often should I repeat this?

After 8 to 12 weeks if you change something, otherwise annually.

HbA1c moves over roughly three months, so repeating sooner shows little difference. Ferritin and vitamin D respond faster to supplementation.

What does a full check cost here?

Lab cost plus the 80 euro appointment fee.

For the Health Baseline that is 75 euro lab plus 80 euro appointment. For reference, providers with a collection point charge around 239 euro for an extensive check.

Do I get an explanation with the results?

Yes, per value.

Each value is compared against both the lab reference and the stricter target range, with an explanation of what it means and what you can do with it.

Note: a blood test gives you insight and direction. It does not prove or rule out a condition on its own. Results are meant for prevention and for tracking change over time, not as a diagnosis. For symptoms or values outside the reference range, see your GP.
